Helping Hands is a service that is intended to aid people experiencing a short-term, unforeseen emergency through a one-time cash grant. These emergency funds serve as a stop gap measure for clients who have a clear path forward to stability. The program is supported through a generous grant by Catholic Charities USA.
The program offers an immediate solution for people facing a one-time setback and who can show proof of the bill or necessity. We hope that Helping Hands will have a positive impact on our clients because it could help alleviate financial stress, prevent or reduce debt, and help in areas that may cost the client to become unhoused. Overall, Helping Hands is a way to bridge the gap when something unexpected happens and helps support financial stability.
“My expectations for this service are that it will help many individuals and families stay housed, help reduce debt, and financial stress. Helping Hands has given us the opportunity to help people outside of Santa Rosa City limits,” said Rose Morin, an Administrative Assistant that is leading the operations of Helping Hands.
As Helping Hands expands, more people in Sonoma and Lake counties will have access to housing counseling services during financial crises. Increased awareness will help connect those in need with valuable support, ultimately improving housing stability. With continued collaboration, the service can expand its impact and strengthen the long-term resilience of the community.
